Hera - ring

Hera - ring

(this listing is made to order)

Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the story, Zeus brought Hercules to nurse from his wife while she was sleeping. Hera awoke and pushed the baby away from her. Drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way and everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed. We know, though, that the Calla liliy is a very toxic flower that should not be ingested. It was this idea of toxic beauty and harmful nuturing that fascinated me to create this ring.

Cast from solid sterling silver with an antiqued finish to darken crevices and then sealed after buffing. Made by hand in Ohio.
